Recently purchased “Kreshatik” hotel will be obviously renamed into “World Map” and brought to the ‘4 stars” level. This information was provided, according to the news published in the “Delovaya Stolitsa” (“Business Capital”) by the Gennady Medvedev, the stock holder of the “World Map”.
“We plan to improve the “Kreshatik” hotel up to the level of the four stars hotel basing all the reconstruction on the principles typical, for example, for the “Hilton” hotel but a new one will be named “World Map” and all administrative functions will be regulated by our company” – stressed Mr Medvedev.
All the reconstruction of the hotel will be conducted storey after storey starting with the eighth storey which is uninhabited lodging. It is planned
to change the facade of the hotel to make it more modern as well as to provide the infrastructure corresponding to the business requirements: the conference hall for 250 seats, a small one,  as well as the recreation complex and the concert hall.
As it was already informed, the “World Map” corporation uniting 10 big  restaurants, has purchased “Kreshatik” hotel from the Kiev state administration
for 45 million grivnas. This deal took place in November but before that “World Map” has conducted negotiations concerning this deal during 1.5 year. “World Map” unites the following restaurants: “Tekila House”, “Golden Gate”, “Mimino”, “Sam’s Steak House”, “Lipsky Osobnyak”, “Razgulyaevo”, “Opium Dance Club”, “Asahi”, “L’amour”, “Marakesh”, wine bootee “Vinoteka”.
“Kreshatik” hotel (3 stars) is in the very centre of the city, it has 108 rooms for 150 persons. 

The idea to promote Kiev to be provided the title of the European culture capital was proposed by Gratzina Stanishevskaya, the deputy of the European Parliament and International observer at the Ukraine President elections. She declared it at the meeting with Alexander Omelchenko in the Kiev city hall.
According to her words she was much impressed with the revolution events in Kiev and particularly with the mass people demarches of indocility against the falsification of the elections. As she said, they confirmed the formation of high democratic culture in the new Ukraine society.
As the deputy said each year the European Community nominates the title of the European culture capital for two cities: one to the city in the European Community countries and the other - to the city from the countries not entering the European Community. The title of the European culture capital stimulates the cities the stirring up the culture life with increasing the number of different arrangements. At the same time the European Community budget provides financial support for this realization.
For today this title was already awarded to 28 cities. And particularly in 2000, as an exclusive, nine cities were honored this title at the same time. After Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and Porto (Portugal) and Salamanky (Spain) in 2002, Gratsa (Austria) in 2003, the title of the culture capitals in 2004 were awarded to Genoa (Austria) and
Lille (France). In 2005 such a capital will be Kork (Ireland) and in 2006 - Patras (Greece). This information was provided by Kiev city administration.
The final decision concerning the awarding the title of the European culture capital 2010 will be accepted by the expert committee including the representatives of different institutions of the European Community. According to Stanishevskaya’s point of view, Kiev has all the grounds to make such an announcement to be awarded this honor title in 2010. All the documents required the Ukraine side can represent for consideration of the European committee already in 2005. The procedure of these documents to be considered by different institutions of the European Community takes about 4 years from the moment of the documents being received.
According to Omelchenko opinion, Kiev can worthy represent to the European Community its readiness to be the candidate just in a few years. Bistrushkin, the chief of the main department of culture, fine arts and safety of culture inheritance, assured that the Ukraine capital  will start the nearest days all the preparation works required.
The capital will be ready to represent for consideration the different culture programs which will include as choreography, vocal and other amateur talent activities as well as theatres mastery.

The remains of the neardertal person were found in the Lvov region of Ukraine by the arheologists of the Ukraine Institute named after Kripyakevich according to the information
of the professor of this institute Leonid Matskevich declared at the press-conference in Lvov recently.
"In the Nikolaevsky region, 40 km from Lvov, we found the cave and an area in front of it where these seven  bones and a skull were found",- he said.
According to his words, the first godsend was found at the end of May 2004. But it was sent for examination to the Main Bureau of Medical Examination in Kiev in September and only in a month and half we received the reply confirming that these bones could belong to the neardertal person.
"Really, the 100% confirmation can be received only on the base of the genetic code analyses but it requires not less than 50 thousand US$ which we havn't for a while and we hope to find sponsors* - said Matskevich.
He also expressed his hope that their finds in this cave are not finished as only one forth of excavation work done. According to the professor words, the geo morphologists precisely determined the period when this settlement was found - 45 600, plus-minus 400 years, as informed by "Interfax".
This is the second remains of the neardertal person found on the territory of Ukraine. The first find took place in Crimea in 1929.

The agreement for cooperation in the field of tourism between the Autonomic Republic of Crimea (ARC) and Podlyansky province (the Polish republic) has been signed  as well as the protocol of intentions from both sides clearifing the possible spheres of interconnection. It was informed by the press-office of the Council of Ministers of  ARC. According to this information, this agreement was signed yesterday in the evening by the Chairman of the ARC Sergey Kunitsen and the marshlyak of the Podlyansky province Yanush Kshitzevsky.
This document confirms the readiness of regions to found partner relations in different branches of economy, in humanist and social fields as well as in the development of tourism.
The head of the Crimea government provided the detail information to the guests concerning the industrial potential of ARC, the structure and investment potential of the Republic.
According to Kshitzevsky speach, the expected investments to the Province economy will be about 1 milliard Euro. But the main problem of the region, as the marshlyak  mentioned, is unemployment. The nearest years all the efforts of the province administration, as Kshitzevsky noted, will be concentrated on the regional transport infra structure, as informed by  "Crimea line".
The delegation of Podlyansky province has arrived to Crimea on the invitation of the Council of Ministers of the Republic Supreme Council. Within the bounds of the visit the guests were acquainted with the historic and culture monuments of the peninsula, visited the industrial enterprises, had meetings with the representatives of the commercial enterprises.

Air Company "AeroSvit - Ukraine airlines" from the beginning of 2004 has transferred one million of passengers. This person happened to be the 38-years Nikolay Chaiko, the private employer from Kiev. Together with his wife he had a flight with "AeroSvit" to Tailand, where this couple plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their wedding. On behalf of the air company the jubilee passenger was awarded with a certificate providing him 10 free of charge tickets for the "AeroSvit" flights     
As Avia.Ru informed, it is for the first time the volume of the passenger transfers by the greatest Ukraine airline company has overcome the million mark. But the total number of passengers who took the occasion to flight with "AeroSvit" since its foundation marked 3.5 million persons by the end of the current year.
"AeroSvit - Ukraine airlines" air company has the greatest net of routes among the Ukraine air companies. This air company provides service on 11 routes between towns of Ukraine as well as on 45 international airlines connecting Kiev with capitals, business centres and  world-wide famous resorts of 25 countries of the world.
